Over the past year or so I’ve done a lot of reading; almost all of which are Christian books. Most have been great reads while others well, not so great. I thought I’d pass on my favorites in case anyone visiting my blog happened to stumble upon this blog post and was looking for a new book to read.
My favorite by far is the book I start every day with… My Bible. Up until the end of 2015 I would always read my study bible which was a NIV translation. It was by far the best bible I’ve owned for the study/commentary portion of the bible. At the beginning of the year though I came across a tweet by Frank Turek @Frank_Turek that mentioned the current bible I read; The Apologetics Study Bible. This bible is a HCSB translation which I seem to enjoy reading much more than the NIV translation. While the study commentary notes are not as thorough, the book has over 130 articles spread throughout that cover many topics related to apologetics. It’s a great bible that I highly recommended.
Along with the bible I also have a new commentary series of books which goes into great detail about each verse of the bible. Commentary books can be extremely helpful in opening our eyes to better understand God’s words and stories that are contained in the bible. While there are many commentary books out there, I settled on The Wiersbe Bible Commentary. There are two books in the series. I highly recommend them.
Aside from reading the bible, I’ve read the following 4 books. All have been outstanding reads by my favorite authors, Frank Turek, Lee Strobel, and Greg Laurie.
